This policy explains how Alexander Hone Lawyers, operating this website as Alexander Hone Lawyers, handles personal information in connection with our website and Australian trademark application service.

1. Information we collect

We may collect:

• names, email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses;
• business details, including an ABN or ACN;
• information about trademark owners, representatives and application contacts;
• proposed trademark words, logos, images, goods and services;
• application references, payment status and related transaction identifiers;
• correspondence, instructions and customer-service records; and
• technical information such as IP address, session data, browser details and security logs.

Stripe processes card details through its hosted checkout. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card number.

2. How we collect information

We collect information directly from you when you use our website, complete an application, upload a logo, pay, contact us or respond to our legal team. We may also receive payment-status information from Stripe and application information from our lawyers or IP Australia.

3. Why we use information

We use personal information to provide, review, prepare and submit trademark applications; verify payment; send application communications; contact you for instructions; maintain legal, tax and business records; protect the website; improve our service; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Who we disclose information to

We may disclose relevant information to our lawyers, staff and contractors; IP Australia and other government bodies; Stripe; Resend; hosting, storage, security and technology providers; and professional advisers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where authorised or required by law.

Information included in a submitted trademark application may become part of public registers maintained by IP Australia.

5. Overseas disclosure

Some technology, payment and email providers may process or store information outside Australia. The locations can change as providers update their infrastructure. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate safeguards, but overseas recipients may be subject to the laws of their country.

6. Storage and security

Application records and uploaded files are stored in private server storage that is not intended to be publicly accessible. We use access controls, transport encryption and private storage permissions appropriate to the nature of the information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain legal and accounting records, manage professional obligations, resolve disputes and comply with law. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to backup and legal-retention requirements.

8. Cookies and technical data

We use a session cookie that is necessary to maintain your application and protect form submissions. We also keep limited technical and security records, including rate-limit information. The current service does not use the session cookie for third-party behavioural advertising.

9. Access and correction

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct inaccurate information. We may need to verify your identity and may refuse or limit access where permitted by law.

10. Questions and complaints

Send privacy requests or complaints to support@onlinetrademarkregistration.com.au. Please include enough detail for us to investigate. We will acknowledge and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied and the Privacy Act applies, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
